EPDP Chairman Meets with Party Members Electronically

Mr. Menghesteab Asmerom, Chairman of the Eritrean People's Democratic Party (EPDP) on Sunday, 5 November, held a periodical briefing meeting electrically with the total membership of the party who are located in many parts of the globe. Explained and discussed at the meeting were latest developments that included a conference of Eritreans in Frankfurt; the outcome of regular meetings of the EPDP Central Council and the Executive Committee, and recent events that heated up the struggle against the repressive regime at home and abroad.

The Chairman stated that at the conference in Frankfurt, held between 20-22 October, the EPDP delegation had the opportunity of meeting and discussing with many compatriots the party's 4 June 2017 proposal for joint work in the Eritrean opposition. He strongly reminded party colleagues that working hard to promote the proposal is worth the toil because it is one of the practical steps towards joint action in the fragmented opposition camp. 

Regarding the recent EPDP leadership meetings, the Chairman pointed out the key issues given high priority both at the Central Council and Executive Committee levels, and expressed full confidence in the committed involvement of party members at all levels in implementing the action plans with resounding success by effectively confronting possible challenges on the way. In particular, he urged EPDP members to actively engage with other compatriots in strengthening struggle against the lawless anti-people regime in Eritrea.

The rich discussion and question-and-answer session that followed the Chairman's  presentation reflected the existing unity of purpose and resolve to further strengthen all working organs of the EPDP while redoubling the engagement with other  Eritrean forces struggling for democratic change in the country. There were ample calls caution in every engagement with other forces by making good use of lessons learned.

At concluding the meeting, Mr. Menghesteab Asmerom reiterated his profound admiration for the steadfastness and sacrifices by party members in promoting drawn action plans and promised the continuation of such briefing meetings in the future. He also joined meeting members in paying tribute to Martyr Kiros Woldeab Fessehaye who passed way in Addis Ababa last month. The deceased colleague was one of the most committed and hard working party members in that part of the world.
