Yes, because of the relentless fight by many brave Eritreans in the corridors of the UN and other international venues, finally the international community heard our voices and concerns, and this time they heard us right. In June of this year, the United Nations Human Rights Council established a Commission of Inquiry (COI) on Eritrea to investigate the crimes being committed against Eritrean citizens by the PFDJ regime, pursuant to or as established in the “Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court.” The “Rome Statue” is a treaty that established the International Criminal Court (ICC), which has the power to indict and convict groups/individuals/head of states believed to have committed crimes against humanity. Eritrea is a signatory to the Rome Statue of the International Criminal Court.
For the justice loving Eritrean people, the establishment of the COI is one step in our struggle towards establishing constitutional system, which among other things will enshrine both the protection and respect of human rights of Eritrean citizens in post PFDJ Eritrea. Not only is it a positive development in the struggle against the PFDJ regime, but also it opens a new front that would enable Eritrean Diaspora opposition to garner international support.
Without delving into the legal aspect of the COI, it should be realized that this investigation of crime against humanity is not an easy endeavor. But first is first: we must expose the human rights violation denialists of the PFDJ, with their continued deception and double talk, and the rest of their conspiracy theorists who believe human rights violations and abuses in Eritrea are simply western ploys to undermine Eritrea or to effect regime change in Eritrea. These are the PFDJ elites who have utterly failed on their intellectual and moral duty to defend the truth; intellectuals who failed to serve their own people with honesty and fidelity. And we know these PFDJ enablers will continue to sabotage any and all efforts that they think will bring justice and democracy to Eritrea. And this is the greatest crimes they are committing on their own citizens. Therefore, this is one front we must challenge during the investigation of the COI.
Second, it is clear that the formation of the COI is a big blow to the body politics of the PFDJ regime. And the opposition must capitalize on it, and that it should view the COI as a boost that will potentially help Eritrean people in their struggle to uproot dictatorship on one hand and an opportunity for the opposition to recast itself in the eyes of the Eritrean people on the other. One might even say we are halfway through to put the rope around the neck of the dictator and his cohorts, but this only becomes reality if we work more effectively and jointly than ever, and meticulously chart out a strategy on how to assist the COI.
Third, believing in its usual political ploy, which is making and remaking of falsehoods, PFDJwill continue to raise the national security, foreign enemies...etc in an effort to thwart the work of the COI even though we know the core problem of the country lies with the dictator. In the Diaspora, it will instruct its rogue elites to campaign and attack the COI as a threat to Eritrea. Inside the country, we will see PFDJ’s TV station and networks feeding a carefully crafted lies to the public about the COI. The aim is simply to cement a message that PFDJ believes resonates with the Eritrean people, and that is to show that the COI is against Eritrea’s sovereignty and independence, which we know is false. But the PFDJ will push on twisting facts in order to survive. Not only is PFDJ going to distort facts and plunge itself in its usual gross misrepresentation, but also it will brand all its victims as well as those who witnessed its crimes as criminals and money-grubbing souls in order to shift the debate, muzzle the innocent, and in the process stifle the work of the COI. But time is different now because the center of gravity in Eritrea is shifting to the opposition. PFDJ may not see it but the legitimacy once it had commanded is on the path of extinction.
EPDP strongly values the weight and contribution of the COI. But in the end, it is up to the opposition to make the job of the COI successful. Hence, our primary function must be to encourage victims and witnesses to come forward and testify in front of the COI. All said, however, the opposition must recognize the fear of victims and the possible reprisal against their family members back home by the PFDJ as a result of their testimony. This is the main element that the opposition in general and those Eritreans working closely with the COI in particular should address. Nevertheless, we must push that the victims have the duty to testify because it was during exercising their rights and their freedoms as citizens that they became victims of injustice like hundreds and thousands of Eritreans, and that they were imprisoned and tortured, and that they were forced to leave their country. For them, testifying would be the most historic national duty they have ever done to the country of 5 million people who are dying under the yoke of an absolute tyranny. Not testifying is not an option. The victims and witnesses know more than anybody else that Issais is not only a dictator, but a mad man and he needs to be stopped before he turns Eritrea into an uninhabitable and barren land. Again the point is that, the opposition must tighten its belt in assisting the COI. Meaning now is the time to act, and that we in the opposition must bear the onus of demonstrating the knowledge and responsibility of networking and assisting the COI in its tasks for which it is mandated to carry out – holding Issais regime accountable on the crimes it committed against the Eritrean people – that is crime against humanity. This is not the time to duck our heads.

Oakland, CA--On November 8th, 2014,Mrs. ElsaChryum, Founder and Director of Human Rights Concern Eritrea (HRC-E) discussed the recent decision of the United Nations Human Rights Council to establish a Commission of Inquiry (COI) to investigate the widespread and systematic violations of human rights and fundamental freedoms in Eritrea. Of those in attendance were Eritreans in theBay Area,including asylum seekers and individuals willing to assist the COI by sharing the human rights violations endured by them or a family member. Members of various Eritrean civic and political organizationsalsoattended to participate in the discussion and Q&A that followed.
Mrs. Elsa Chryum addressed the community to explain the objectives of the COI, formally established on June 27, 2014. This is the first official inquiry into the human rights violations being committed in Eritrea, including violations against children and women, indefinite military conscription, false imprisonment, restrictions on peaceful assembly and lack of freedom of expression, among many others. Her presentation included a step by step tour, guided by slideshow presentation, of the functionality and purpose of the COI-Eritrea.org website.
Prior to arriving in Oakland, Mrs. Chyrum conducted information sessions in London, Zurich, Boston, Washington, DC, New York City, Denver, and Santa Clara. She advised that several victims and witnesses have come forward to share traumatic and disturbing stories of torture and human rights abuses perpetuated by the Isaias Afwerki regime. Mrs. Chyrum said the community’s support of the establishment of the COI has been encouraging and she acknowledged the incredible courage of the victims and witnesses.
In response to a question about the capacity and probability the COI possesses to remove the current regime, Mrs. Chyrum reminded the attendees that this initiative is just one mechanism to work towards justice and accountability. The testimonies shared by victims and witnesses will assist to serve as a path to collective reconciliation and healing and if the COI finds enough evidence, it may refer it’s findings to the International Criminal Court for further investigation.
Another attendee asked how the COI will handle discovering information that may conflict with what the families have been told in regards to death and the cause of death of loved ones. Mrs. Chyrum advised that the truth will always be disclosed to the families. For those that require their personal information remain confidential, she assured the COI will protect the identities of victims, families and witnesses.
One of the additional questions posed to Mrs. Chyrum had to do with whether injuries or fatalities brought as consequences of persecution can be presented as legitimate testimonies to the COI. As an example, one attendee cited the horrendous realities many Eritreans face in places like Sinai or the drowning of many Eritreans in capsized boats as legitimate cases to bring to the COI. Mrs. Chyrum clarified that any crimes committed outside of Eritrea aren’t within the mandate contained within the COI directives. However, strong testimonies can be procured out of cases that result leading to fatalities and other injuries. She emphasized that the focus, however, is on the myriad of human rights violations suffered at the hands of the PFDJ regime.
To assist the COI in obtaining credible testimonies, she encouraged the participation of the entire Eritrean community andspecifically those that have been victimized. It is their responsibility to come forward with their stories and be advocates for justice.
Those in attendance offered their assistance and expressed appreciation to Mrs.Chyrum and several victims and witnesses left their contact information to be interviewed. Some also presented excellent ideas on how to further expand the outreach efforts of Mrs. Chyrum and her volunteers.
The COI willcollect testimonies and will review and substantiate all information provided by the victims, victim’s families, witnesses, human rights advocates and experts. The three member Commission will conduct interviews and present a report of its findings to the Human Rights Council at its twenty-ninth session.To ensure this remains a collaborative effort, Mrs. Chyrum will continue reaching out to victims and all active Eritrean civic and political organizations to encourage engagement, answer questions pertaining to the Commission of Inquiry and address any concerns.

ኣብ መንጎ ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን ዘሎ ዝምድና፡ ዝያዳቲ ኤርትራ ምስ ካለኦት ሃገራት ተሕልፎ ዘላ ንጹል ሃለዋት ኣሻቓልን ኣዛራብን ዝኸውን፡ ኣዝዩ መሪር ኣብዚ ዘለናዮ ዘመን ኣጋጢሙ ኢልካ ክትኣምኖ ዘጸግም መሪር ውግእ ዝሓለፎ ብምዃኑ ጥራይ ዘይኮነስ፡ ናይ ክልቲኡ ህዝብታት ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን፡ ጀኦግራፊያዊ፡ ባህላዊ፡ ቋንቋዊ፡ ሃይማኖታዊ፡ ቁጠባዊ ኮታ ደሚርካ ኩለ-መዳያዊ ኣከዋውናኡ ኣዝዩ ዝዛመድ ብምዃኑ እዩ። እዚ ሕጂ ኣብ ክልቲኡ ሃገራት ዝመርሕ ዘሎ ኣካላት ቅድሚ እቲ ትማሊ ኣብ ሕድሕዱ ዘካየዶ መሪር ደማዊ ውግእ፡ ቅድሚ ትማሊ ሓቢሩ ኣንጻር ናይ ሓባር ጸላኢ ደሪጉ ተዋጊኡ ናይ ሓባር ደም ኣፍሲሱ ናይ ሓባር ዓወት ኣመዝጊቡ ናይ ብዙሓት ናእዳ ሓፊሱ ዝነበረ ብምዃኑ ድማ ነዚ ናይ ሕጂ ኢኖ ሓርፋፍ ሓርፊፉ ዘሎ ዝምድና ቆላሕታ ብዙሓት ንክስሕብ ሓጊዝዎ እዩ። “ክቱር ፍቕርስ ክቱር ጽልኢ ፈጠረ” ኢሎም ዝገልጽዎ መሰልቲ’ውን ብዙሓት እዮም። ክልተ ግዜ ቀልቢ ብዙሓት ዝሰሓበ፡ ሓንሳብ ብኣውንታ ደሓር ድማ ብኣሉታ። እዚ ኣሉታዊ እጃምን ተሓታትነትን ጉጅለ ህግደፍ በሪኹ ዝተራእየሉ ኣሕዛኒ ተረኽቦ ከምቲ ኣቐዲሙ ዝተገልጸ፡ ክብ ለጠቕ ብዝብል ዋሕዚ ናይ ብዙሓት ኣጀንዳ ኮይኑ፡ ንህዝብታት ክልቲኡ ሃገራት ግና ንሓንቲ ካልኢት እውን ካብ ኣእምሮኡ ዘየልግስ መናብርቱ ኮይኑ ዘሎ ዘይተፈትሐ ግድል እዩ።
እዚ ክልቲኡ ህዝብታት በቲ ኩነታት ምሽቓል ጥራይ ዘይኮነ፡ ኣብ ሐሕልናኡ ተቐይሩ ማለት እዚ ናይ “ኣይውግእ ኣይሰላም” ሃለዋት ምሉእ ሰላማዊ ኮይኑ ናይ ምርኣዩ ሕልምን ትጽቢትን ከም ዝህልዎ ዘማትእ ኣይኮነን። ክልቲኡ ህዝቢ ትምኒቱ ሓደ ኮይኑ፡ ነዚ ትምኒቱ ናብ ተግባር ንምስግጋር ከቢብዎ ዘሎ ኩነታት ግና ዝተፈላለየ እዩ። እቲ ፍልልይ ኣብ ሕቶ ሰላም ምስ ጐረቤት ህዝቢ ጥራይ ዝተደረት ዘይኮነ፡ ኣብ ኩሉ ህይወቱ ምዃኑ ከዓ ክንዝንገዖ ኣይግበኣናን። እቲ ኣብ ሀገሩ ዘሎ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ኣብዚ ሎሚ ግዜ ብሰንኪ ተንኮላት ጉጅለ ህግደፍ፡ ኣይኮነንዶ ምስ ህዝቢ ኢትዮዮጵያ ዘለዎ ዝምድና ምስቲ ኣብ ጥቕኡ ኣብ ገጠር ድዩ ኣብ ከተማ ዘሎ ጐረቤቱ ብኽመይ ተመላሊኡ ከም ዝነብር ንምቕያስ ዝዛረበሉን ዝዛተየሉን ኩነታት የለን። ምስቲ ኣብ ደሞክራሲያዊ መስርሕ ብመንገዲ ሕገመንግስታዊ ምርጫታት ተተይ ዝብል ዘሎ ህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ ዝነበሮ ሰላማዊ ዝምድና ናብቲ ንቡር ደረጃኡ ንምምላስ ድሌት እምበር ዓቕምን ተኽእሎን ከም ዘየብሉ ኣፍና መሊእና እንዛረቦ ይመስለኒ። ብመሰረቱ እውን ኣብ ኤርትራ ህዝባዊ ልዕልና ዘውሕስ መድረኽ ስለ ዝበኾረ ኢና ዳግማይ ንምምላሱ ንቃለስ ዘለና። እቲ ካብ ኤርትራ ወጻኢ ኣብ ኩሉ ዓለም ተዘርዩ ዘሎ ዲያስፖራ እንብሎ ኤርትራዊ’ውን ካብዚ ኣብ ህዝብና ዘሎ ናይ ዘይምትእምማን ጸግመ “ሕጹብ ከም ጲላጦስ እዩ” ኢሉ ነብሱ ከየዕሹ ከዓ ሓደራ እብል። ብወገን ህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ ብዛዕባዚ ገዚፍ ኣገንዳ ሰላም ናይ ምሕሳብን ናይ ምዝራብን ዝሓሸ ዕድል ኣሎ። ከም መርኣያ ናይዚ እዩ ድማ ኣብዚ ዝሓለፈ ሒደት መዓልታት ኣብ ኣዲስ ኣበባ ጊዮን ሆቴል “ዓለም ለኻዊ ትካል ኢትዮጵያ ንሰላምን ልምዓትን” ዝተባህለ ኣካል ዘሰናድኦ ኣኼባ ዝተኻየደ። ኣብዚ ዝምድና ህዝብታት ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን ናብ ንቡር ሰላማዊ ቦታኡ ናይ ምምላስ ተኽእሎታት ንምድህሳስ ዝተወደ ኣኼባ ካብ ሚእቲ ንላዕሊ፡ ብዕድመ፡ ብዝተዋፈርዎ ስራሕን ብእምነትን ዝተፈላለዩ ኤርትራውያንን ኢትዮጵያውያንን ተሳቲፎም። በዚ ኣጋጣሚ ነቲ ትጡሕ ኩነታት ተጠቒሞም ነቲ ኣጋጣሚ ንዝፈጠሩ ወገናት ምስጋና ይብጸሓዮም።
ኣብዚ ህዝባዊ ዲፕሎማሲ (citizen diplomacy) ንከሕይል ተስፋ ዝተነብረሉን ናይ “ክንገብሮ ንኽእል ኢና” ኒሕ ዝተንጸባረቐሉን ኣኼባ ብዝተፈላለዩ ተሳተፍቲ፡ ነቲ ኩለመዳያዊ ጥቡቕ ዝምድና ክልቲኡ ህዝብታት ዘትርሩ ኣብነታትን ተመኩሮራታን ቀሪቦም። ኣብቲ ዝርዝር ካብ ግዜ ንእስነቶም ብሓደ ዝተማህሩ፡ ብሓደ ዝሰርሑን ኣብ ስደት ብሓባር ሓበሻ ዝብል ስም ዝተጠመቑን ተመኩሮም ብሰፊሑ ተገሊጾም። ኣብቲ ናይ ዝሓለፈ ሰናይ ዘበን ግዜ ጥራይ ዘይኮነ፡ ኣብዚ ናይ “ኣይውግእ ኣይሰላም” መድረኽ እውን ጌና ተስፋ ዝህብ ዝከናኸኖ እንተረኺቡ ክጥጥዕ ዝኽእል ናይ ሰላምን ሕውነታዊ ዝምድናታትን ተስፋታት ከም ዘሎ ብዙሓት ተሳተፍቲ ናይቲ ኣኼባ፡ ምስ ዘዝፈልጥዎ ኣብነታት እንዳሰነዩ ገሊጾም። ብፍላይ ድማ ካብቲ ዝዳወብ ከባቢታት ዝመጹ ተሳተፍቲ ኣብቲ ከባቢ ኪኖ’ቲ ጀኦግራፊያዊ ደረት ናይቲ ህዝቢ ማሕበራዊ ዝምድና ከም ዝዓዝዝ ኣስማት ሰባት ከይተረፈ እንዳጠቐሱ ገሊጾም። ነዚ ዓቢሩ ዘሎ ዝምድና ንምህጣሩ ነንኽእሎ ክንገብር ኢና ኢሎም ቃል ዝኣተዉ ናይ ዝተፈላለየ ዓውዲ ፍልጠት ክኢላታት እውን ንከበርክቱ ቃል ኣትዮም። ሓደ ርዱእ ጉዳይ ግና ኣሎ እዘን ብዛዕባ ዝምድና ህዝበን ንዛረበለን ዘላና ሃገራት ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን ነናተን ነጻነት ኣለወን። ነናተን ሉኣላውነት’ውን። ፖለቲካዊ ባህርያቶምን ንህዝቢ ዝህብዎ ክብርን መሰልን ካልእ ጉዳይ ኮይኑ ነናተን መንግስታዊ ምምሕዳራት’ውን ኣለወን። ኣብዚ መዳይ’ዚ ብዛዕባ ኤርትራ ክንሓስብ እንከላና ኣብ ትሕቲ ዲክታቶርያዊ፡ ጸረ ደሞክራስን ኩሉ ነጻነታትን መሰላት ህዝብን ጓዕጻጺ ጉጅለ ህግደፍ እያተመቊሓ ዘላ። ኣብ ከምዚ ኩነታት ኣብ መንጎ ህዝብታት ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን ህዝባዊ ሰላማዊ ዲፕሎማሲ ክንፈጥር፡ ክንብል እንከለና ነቲ ህዝቢ ካብቲ መንግስታቱ ፈሊና ነናቱ ሃገር ክንፈጥረሉ ማለትና ከም ዘይኮነ ብሩህ እዩ። ነዓይ ከም ዝረደኣኒ እዚ ህዝብታት ኣገዳስነት ሰላምን ጥዑይ ዝምድናን ኣብ ዕቤቱን ቀጻልነቱን ወሳኒ ምዃኑ ተገንዚቡ ነኒመንግስቱ ናብዚ ሃናጺ መድረኽዚ ንክመጽእ ከገድደሉ ዝኽእል ዓቕሚ ክፈጥር ምኽኣሉ ማለት እዩ። ሰላማዊ ዝምድና ንህዝቢ ኤርትራን ኢትዮጵያን ትርጉሙ ዘይምውጋእ ጥራይ ኣይኮነን። ኣብ ነንሕድሕዱ ቀጻሊ ተጠቓቓምነትን ሓቢርካን ተማላሊእካን ናብ ዓዲ ዕቤት ምግስጋስ ማለት እዩ ዝብል እምነት ኣለኒ።
እዚ ዕማምዚ ንምዕዋት ቅድም ቀዳድም እዚ ኣብ ሰላም እምበር ኣብ ውግእን ህውከትን ረብሓ ዘየብሉ ህዝቢ ኣብ ሃሃገሩ ክሰርሖ ዝግበኦ ዕዮ ገዛ ኣለዎ። ንኣብነት ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ቅድሚ ምስ ህዝቢ ኢትዮጵያ ድዩ ምስ ህዝቢ ካልእ ጐረቤት ሃገር ሰላማውን ሓባራውን ዝምድና ምፍጣሩ፡ ኣብ ገዛእ ሃገሩ ናቱ ሰላምን ነጻነትን ኣብ ኢዱ ክጭብጥ ናይ ግድን እዩ። ምኽንያቱ ሎሚ ኤርትራ እያ ካብ መግዛእቲ ነጻ ወጺኣ እምበር ህዝባ ካብ ኣርዑት ጉጅለ ህግደፍ ነጻ ከም ዘይወጸ ርኡይ ስለ ዝኾነ። ኣብ ገዛእ ባይታኡ ኣጣጢሑ ዘይረገጸ ሰላም፡ ምስ ጐረቤት ዝቛጽሮ ዝምድና ጽባሕ ብሰንኪ’ቲ ኣብ ዓዲ ዘይጣጠሐ ባይታ ተደጊሱ ክፍታሕ ከም ዝኽእል ክንርስዕ ኣይግበኣናን። እዚ ሰላም ምስ ጐረባብቲ ናይ ምርግጋጽ ዕማም እምበኣር ካብቲ ሓፈሻዊ ንኤርትራ ናብ ሓድሽ መድረኽ ደሞክራሲን ምኽባር ኩሉ መሰላትን ንምብቃዓ ዝግበር ቃልሲ ተፈልዩ ዝረአ ኣይኮነን። ከምዚ ስለ ዝኾነ እዩ ድማ ጉዳይ ሰላምን ህዝባዊ ዲፕሎማስን ካብ ጉዳይ ፖለቲካ ፈሊኻ ምርኣዩ ዘጸግም። ኣብ ገዛእ ሃገሩ፡ ሰላም፡ ደሞክራሲን ልምዓትን ዝጸውር ባይታ ዘይፈጠረ ህዝቢ ምስ ጐረባብቱ ሰላም ክህልዎ ኣዝዩ ኣጸጋሚ ስለ ዝኾነን። ብመሰረቱ እቲ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ምስ ጐረባብቱ ብሰላምን ጽቡቕ ዝምድናን ንከይነብር ዓጊትዎ ዘሎ መጻወዲያ መንቀሊኡ እቲ ኣብ ውሽጢ ኤርትራ ተዘሪኡ ዘሎ ኣብ ሕድሕድ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ምትእምማን ንከይፍጠር ብጉጅለ ህግደፍ ዝተጻወደ መፈንጠርያ እዩ። ኣብ ሕድሕዱ ዝጠራጠር ህዝቢ ቀዳምነት ክህቦ ዘለዎ እምበር ኣብ ውሽጡ ምጥርጣራትን ዘይምትእምማንን ምውጋን እዩ። እቲ ናብ ጐረባብቲ ዝልሑዅ ሰላም ኮነ ህውከት፡ እቲ ናይ ምሽጢ ምስ መለአ ዝፈስስ እምበር ካብቲ ናይ ውሽጢ ተነጺል ኣብ ደገ ዝፍጠር ዘይምዃኑ ከዓ ፍሉጥ እዩ።

መንእሰይ ክበሃል ብደርጃ ዕድመ ክጥመት እንከሎ፡ ነቲ ልዕሊ ህጻንነትን ኣብ ቅድመ ዓቕሚ ኣዳምን ዘሎ ግዜ ዘጠቓልል ህይወት ወዲሰብ እዩ።ብሓፈሻዊ ኣዘራርባ፡ ድማ ናብ ምሉእ ስብእነት ንምብጻሕ ዝዳለወሉ፡ ወሳኒ ግዜ ናይ ወዲ ሰብ እዩ። ኣብ ውሽጢ እዚ ዕድመ እዚ እኹል ተመኩሮ ከይወነነ ከሎ ብንጹህ ሓንጎል ስለዝጎዓዝ፡ ኩሉ እቲ ዝረኣዮን እቲ ዝሓስቦን ብሓንቲ ለይቲ ዝፍጸም ኮይኑ እዩ ዝስመዖ። ኣብ ከምዚ ዕድመ እዚ ከኣ ክፉእ ይኹን ጽቡቕ ንኽቕበል ድልው እዩ። ስለዚ መንእሰይ ትኩስ ወይ ውዑይ ሓይሊ እዩ። ኣብ ዓቕሚ ኣዳም ኣብ ዝበጽሓሉወይ ምላት ስብእነት ኣብ ዘረጋገጸሉ እዋን ድማ ነፍሱ ፈሊጡ ዘዋጽኦን ዘየዋጽኦን ዝመምየሉ ግዜ ማለት እዩ። ካብ ከባቢኡ ብዙሕ ክፈልጥ፡ ክመሃር፡ ክምኰርን ከስተውዕል ስለዝኽእል፣ ከምቲ ብንእስነቱ ከሎ ዝህንደዶ ዝነበረ ኣይከውንን።
መንእሰይ ብባህሪኡ ንብሉይ ብሓዲሽ ዝትክእ ከም ምዃኑ መጠን፣ ነቲ ናቱ መጻኢ ግዜ ዝቕይስ እውን ማለት እዩ። ንኣብነት ቀዳሞት ወለድና ንሓዳር እትኾነካ ባዕሎም እዮም ዝማጽኡልካ ዝነበሩ። ሎሚ ግና እቲ ሓዲሽ ወለዶ ባዕሉ ወይ ባዕላ ብዝሓረያ ወይ ብዝሓረየቶ እዩ ሓዳር ዝፍጸም ዘሎ። ኣብ ፖለቲካዊ መዳይ ክንርእዮ ከሎና ድማ ነታ ዝተወልደላ ሃገር ወይ መዳሕንቱ ዝተደፍነትላ ከምዝበሃል ንሃገረይ እንታይ ክገብረላ ኣሎኒ እሉ ዘይሓስብ መንእሰይ ውሑድ እዩ። ይኹን እምበር ተመኩሮ ዘለዎን ዘይብሉን መንእሰይ ሓደ ከምዘይኮነ ኩልና እንሰማማዓሉ ነጥቢ እዩ። ናይ ኣርባዕታት መንእሰይ ነቲ ናይ ሓምሳታት፡ እቲ ናይ ሓምሳታት ነቲ ናይ ሱሳታት፡ እቲ ናይ ሱሳታት ድማ ንናይ ሰብዓታት … ወዘተ እናኣውረሰ እዩ ክሳብ እዚ ዝሎናዮ በጺሕና ዝሎና። መንእሰይ ካብ ቅድሚኡ ዝነበሩ ክመሃርን ክፈልጥን ድልው እንተዘይኮይኑ ግን፡ ነቲ እታ ሃገር እትጽበዮ ከማልእ ኣይክእልን እዩ። ኣብ ሃገረይ እንታይ ግደ ክጻወት፡ ንህዝበይከ እንታይ ክበርክተሉ ይኽእል? ዝብል ክምልስ ድሉው ዝኾነ መንእሰይ እዩ ድማ ንሃገሩን ህዝቡን ክሓሊ ዝኽእል። ሓደ ካብዚ ከም ኣብነት ክጥቀስ ዝግበኦ፣ መንእሰይ ንሃገሩ ክከላኸለላን ተማሂሩ ድማ ከገልግላን ዝብል እዩ።
መንእሰይ ብሓፈሻኡ መን ምዃኑ ንነፍሱ ኣጸቢቑ ኣብ ዘይፈልጠላ ህሞት እዩ ዝርከብ ዘሎ። ነቲ ኣሎ ዝበሃል ሽግራት ብግቡእ ፈልዩ ዘለልዮን ዝፈልጦን እውን ኣይኮነን። ነዘን ክልተ ነጥብታት ክመልከን እንተዘይክኢሉ፡ ንሃገሩን ህዝቡን እንታይ ክገብር ከምዘለዎ እውን ክጻገምን ክሽገርን እዩ። መንእሰይ ብፍላይ ኣብ ነጻነትን ማዕርነትን ፍትሕን ዘለዎ እምነት ድሩትን፣ ብፍላይ ድማ ፖለቲካዊ ኣፍልጦኡ ኣዝዩ ትሑት ምስ ዝኸውን፡ ነታ ሃገር መንሽሮ እዩ ዝኾና። ናይ ነጻነትን ማዕርነትን ፍትሕን እምነት ዘይውንን እንተኾይኑ ምስቲ ካልእ ማዕረ ምዃኑን ንኹሉ እትምልከት ፍትሒ ዘይኣምንን ምዃኑ ይስሕቶ እሞ ኣብ ጸብለልትነት፡ ነፍሰ ምትሓት ወይ እውን ኣብ ምቁንጻብን ምንእኣስን፡ ኣብ ጸቢብነት የተኩር። ነቲ ቅድሚኡ ዝተሰርሐ እውን ከም ቁምነገር ኣይቆጽሮን። ካብዚ ዝነቐለ እውን ይኸውን ነቶም ካብኡ ብትውልዲ ይኹን ብተመኩሮ ዝበልጽዎ ኣኽብሮት ዘይብሉ። ንኹሉ ብኣሉታ እምበር ብእወንታ ጀሚሩ ነቲ ሃጓፋት ወይ እውን ግድላት ፍታሕ ንምምጻእ ኣይጽዕርን።
መንእሰይ ክበሃል ከሎ ኣፍቃር ሃገሩን ህዝቡን ክሳብ ህይወቱ ብጃ ዝህብን ምዃኑ ኣብ መዛግብቲ ታሪኽ ስኑድ እዩ። ስለዚ፡ ዝኾነ ይኹን መንእሰይ እምበኣር ንመጻኢ ዕድል ሃገሩ ብሩህ ንምግባር ሓላፍነት ከምዘለዎ ርዱእ እዩ። ነዚ ሓላፍነት እዚ ብዕምቈት ተረዲኡ ነታ ሃገሩ ካብ ዝኾነ ይኹን ጸገማት ከላቕቓ ይኽእልዶ? ሓላፍነት ንኽስከምከ እንታይ የድልዮ? ዝብል ሕቶ ምምላስ ኣገዳሲ እዩ። ምኽንያቱ ኣብ ዓለም ዝርከብ መንእሰይ ብዘይካ እታ መዳሕንቱ ዝተደፍነትላ ሃገር ካልእ ሃገር የብሉን። ኣብ ዝኸደ ይኺድ ተመሊሱ ኣብ ሃገሩን ህዝቡን እዩ ዝምለስ። ተሰዲዱ ሽሕ ግዜ ይጥዓሞ ንሃገሩን ህዝቡን ግን ፈጺሙ ካብ ኣእምሮኡ ኣይሓክኽን እዩ። ኩሉ ግዜ ድማ ናብታ ሃገሩን ህዝቡን ቁልሕ ምስ በለን ምስ ሓሰበን ኣስተንተነን እዩ። ወሓይዝን፡ ጎቦታትን እምባታትን፡ ሩባታትን ፈለጋትን ሃገሩ፡ ባህልን ልምድን እንዳቦታቱ ወትሩ ክርኢ ዝደፋነቕ እዩ። ነዚ መዝነት እዚ ክስከም እምበኣር ግቡእ ትምህርቲ ክሰንቕ የድልዮ።
ናብ መንእሰያት ደቂ ሃገረይ ኢርትራ ንመለስ እሞ ከመይ ዝበለ መንአሰይ እዩ ዘሎና ዝብል ሓሳብ ኩልና ብንቕሓትን ብኣፍልጦን ተመራሚርና ክንበጽሖ ኣሎና። ቀዳማይ ናይ ዕድመ ምትሕውዋስ ኣሎ። ኣቦታት ክምስሉ "ወዲ ኣርብዓ ዘርባዕባዓ፡ ይብሉ። ኣብ ዝመንና ግና ዝወለዱን ዝዘመዱን ደቂ ኣርባዓን ልዕሊኡን፡ መንእስያት ካብ ዝብል ስም ክላቐቑ ዘይመርጹን፡ ነቲ ሓቀኛ ዕቤት መንእሰያት ዝዓናቕፉን ይርከቡ እዮም። እወ ንሳቶምእውን መብዛሕታኦም ግዜ ንእስነቶም ከም መንእሰያት ዘይጸገቡ፡ ዝተበደሉ ዕድመ ንእስነቶም ብምልኪ ዝተሰርቀ ስለ ዝዀነ፡ ነት ዕድመ'ቲ ክብህግዎን ኣባኡ ክነብሩን ኣገራሚ ኣይኰነን። በቲ ካልእ ሸነኹ ድማ ማሕበራዊ ሽግራት የስዕብ ምኽንያቱ ኣብዚ ሒዝናዮ ዘሎና እዋን ኣብ ሕብረተሰብና ዝነበረ ጠቓምን ጎዳእን ባህልን ልምድን ሓዋዊስካ ናይ ምድምሳሱ ዝርኣየሉ ህሞት እና በጺሕና ዘሎና። እዚ ጥራሕ ከይኣክል ማሕበራዊ ሽግራትን፡ መዓት ግድላትን እውን ኣሎና። ንኣብነት ድኽነት፡ ድንቁርና፡ ሕማም፡ ከምኡ እውን ሕድሕድ ዘይምትእምማን ስለዘሎ፣ እቲ መንእሰይ ብዘይ ዝኾነ ይኹን ምኽንያት ኣብ ነንሓድሕዱ ክገራጮን ከፈላለን ኣብ ቅርሕንትታት ተዋሒጡ ኣብ ዘየድሊ ኣቕጣጫ ክምርሽ ይርከብ። ኣብ ከምዚ ህሞት እዚ፡ ነታ ሃገር ብኹሉ መዳያታ፣ ሓድነታ ኣዕቁባ ክትብልጽግ ዝብል ክሓስበላ ይኽእልዶ? ኣነ ንበይነይ ብዘካይ ነዛ ሃገር ከድሕና ዝኽእል የሎን እናተባህለ እሞ ከኣ ብኣውራጃ ወይ ብብሄር እንተዘይተጠርነፍኩም ዝፍታሕ ሽግር የለን ብምባል ነዛ ሃገር የድሕንዶ?
ስለዚ፡ መንእሰይ ሃገርና ነቲ ‘ኩልና እምበር ንበይነይ ዝገብሮ የብለይን’’ ዝብል ጭርሖ ክዕጠቕ ይግባእ። ንበይነይ ዝገበሮ የብለይን ማለት ድማ ንኹሉ ኤርትራዊ ብኹሉ ፍልልያቱን ሕብሩን ሃይማኖቱን ብሄራቱን ኣውርጃታቱን ተጠርኒፉ ሓንቲ ዝኾርዓላ ሃገር ምፍጣር ማለት እዩ። ከምዚ ምስ ዝገበር ድማ እዩ እቲ መንእሰይ ነቲ ህዝብና ዝብህጎን ዝጽውዖን መልሲ ክህበሉ ዝኽእል። ካብዚ ብዝተረፈ ንጽባሕ እዛ ሃገር እዚኣ ሰላምን ውህደትን ሕውነትን ስኒትን ዝሰፈና ክትከውን እንተኾይኑ ብመገዲ ምፍልላይ ዘይኮነስ እንታይ ደኣ እቲ መንእሰይ ንገዛእ ርእሱ ንለወጢ ቅሩብ ክኸውንን ነቲ ለውጢ ድማ ብመንጽር ሓባራውን ኣሳታፍነትን ክርእዮ ይግባእ። እዚ ከኣ ኩሉ መንእሰይ ካብ ናይ ከፋፋሊ ወይ ፈላላዪ ፖለቲካ ጸጊዕነት ነጻ ኮይኑ ነቲ ማሕበራዊ ምፍንጫላት ዘዕሙቝን ዘባልሕን ኩነታት ወጊድ ክብልን ቅኑዕ ዲሞክራሲያዊ ባህሊ ክኽተል የድሊ። ናብዚ ንምብጻሕ ድማ መንእሰይ ንኹሉ ክጥርንፍን ብዘይኣፈላላይ ዝሓቁፍ ፖለቲካዊ ዕላማ ክውንን ይግባእ። እንተዘይኮይኑ እዚ በበይንኻ ኰንካ ሑሕ ምባል ናይ ጽልኢ ለበዳ ሕማም ምስፍሕፋሕ ንሃገርን ህዝብን ዘርብሕ ከምዘይኮነ ምርዳእ የድሊ።
ስለዚ፡ መንእሰይ ብፖለቲካዊ ውደባ ይኹን ብበርጌሳዊ ማህበር ይወደብ ብዘየገድስ፡ ኩሉ ዝገብሮ ምንቅስቓስ ንዲሞክራሲያዊ መስመር ዝዕኵዅ ወይ ዘህስስ ወይ እውን ዝዕወት ወይ ዝፈሽል፣ ዲዩ ኣመዛዚኑ ክርዳእ ኣለዎ። ከምኡ እውን እቲ ንሱ ሒዝዎ ዘሎ ኣተሓስስባ ዝተጠርነፈን ዝተሓቛቘፈን ሕብረተሰብ ክፈጥር ይኽእልዶ ኣይክእልን ዝመዝንን ዝግምግምን ከኸውን ኣገዳሲ እዩ። እዚ ማለት ዲሞክራሲያዊ ባህልን ኣተሓሳስባን ዝጠናኸረሉ እንኮ መገዲ ኣብቲ ባህሪ ናይ ንሱ ዝተወደበሉ ፖለቲካዊ ሰልፊ ይኹን በርጌሳዊ ማሕበር ዝመርኮስ እዩ። ይኹን እምበር፡ ንሕብረተሰብ መቓቒልካ ናብ ትደልዮ ዓወት ከምዘየብጽሕ እውን ብኣግኡ ከስተብህለሉ ኣለዎ። እቲ ዓወት ዝበሃል ዘሎ ድማ ንፍልልያት ካብ ምግፍሑ ንምጽባቡ ብምውሳእ ፍትሓዊ ዝኾነ ሕብረተሰብ ምፍጣር ማለት ኣዩ። ዎ! ኤርትራዊ መንእሰይ፡ እዛ ሃገርካ ኤርትራ ትደልየካ ኣላ ክበሃል ከሎ ካባኻ እንታይ ትጽበ ኣላ ዝብል ሕቶ ንምምላስ ክትበቅዕ ኣሎካ። ንሱ ድማ ነቲ እታ ሃገርካ ትደልዮ ብመገዲ ምፍልላይን፡ ምግርጫውን ድዩ ወይስ ብቕኑዕን ንኹሉ ዝጥርንፍ ኣገባብ ፈሊኻ ምግንዛብ እዩ።

Asmara Regime Arrests Two Catholic Priests; 10 Members of Eritrean Monasteries Flee to Ethiopia

Sources from Asmara and the Vatican confirm that two priests of the Eritrean Catholic Church were arrested by security agents of the dictatorial regime during the first week of November.
The arrested priests belong to the Capuchin order of the Catholic Church. They are Aba/Father Eyob Gheresus, 77, director of Church’s printing press, and AbaTesfai Debas, 60, head of finances, who served in Harerghe, Ethiopia, until the mass expulsion of Eritreans from that country in 1998.
The sources did not want to hint as to the alleged reasons for the current arrest. The sources also confirmed the report in Eritrean websites indicating that the two priests were taken to the Adi Abeyto prison in the outskirts of the Eritrean capital, Asmara.
Meanwhile, 10 members of several Eritrean monasteries of the Orthodox Tewahdo Church have crossed the border to Ethiopia in the past few days fearing imminent arrest by the security apparatus of the regime, probably because of the 1 October 2014 condemnation and excommunication of regime-appointees who promoted, inter alia, corruption and misrule in the Church.
