ኣኼባ ባይቶ ሰብኣዊ መሰል ሕቡራት ሃገራት ኣብ ናይ 14 ሰነ 2017 ስሩዕ ኣጀንዳኡ ቅድሚ ምጅማሩ ሒደት ሰዓታት፡ ኤርትራዊ ማሕበረሰ ሕግን ኣሓት ማሕበራት ሰብኣዊ መሰልን ብዘይካቲ ዓለም ለኻዊ ገበናዊ ቤት ፍርድን ዞባዊ መስርሕን ካልእ መማረጺ ንምድህሳስ ጐናዊ ኣኼባ ኣካይዶም። ዕላማ እቲ ምድህሳስ መማረጺ መድረኽ ኣብ ኤርትራ ካብ 1991 ክሳብ 2016 ብዝፈጸምዎ ገበን ዝኽሰሱ ሰባት ተሓተቲ ዝኾንሉ ኩነታት ንምፍጣር እዩ።
ኣብቲ ሓያሎ ዝተሳተፍዎ ብዶ/ር ዳንኤል ረዘነ መኮነን ካብ ኤርትራዊ ማሕበረሰብ ሕጊ ዝተኣልየ መድረኽ፡ ሱዙኩ ሉንጉ ናይ ሕጊ ክኢላ ካብ ደቡብ ኣፍሪቃ፡ ኣቶ ኣዳም ክንፉ ካብ ግዳይ ኤርትራዊ ቤተሰብን ወ/ሮ ሪታ ማዙቺ ኣብ ናይሮቢ ካብ ዝመደበሩ ሲቪላዊ መድረኽ ቅርኒ ኣፍሪቃን ከም ተዛረብቲ ተሳቲፎም።
ዶ/ር ዳንኤል መኮነን ኣብ ዝሃቦ መእተዊ ቃል ኣብ ዝሓለፈ ዓመት ብመርማሪ ኮሚሽ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ኤርትራ ዝተበጽሓ ውሳነታትን መፍትሒ ሓሳባትን ብመንግዲ ዓለም ለኻውን ዞባውን መድረኻት ኣብ ግብሪ ምውዓሉ ነዊሕ ግዜ ከም ዝወስድ ጠቒሱ። በዚ መሰረት ብኤርትራውያንን ግዱሳት ሲቪላዊ ማሕበራትን ካልእ ፍትሒ ኣብ ኤርትራ ዝረጋገጸሉ መንገዲ ምንዳይ እዋናዊ ዕማም ምዃኑ ኣነጺሩ።
ዶ/ር ዳንኤል እቲ መማረጺ መድረኻት፡ ነቶም ገበን ኣንጻር ሰብኣውነት ዝፈጸሙ ጥርጡራት ሰባት ብደረጃ ዞባ ወይ ሃገር ካብ ኤርትራ ወጻኢ ኣብ ቤት ፍርዲ ምቕራቦም ከም ዘጠቓልል ጠቒሱ። ወ/ሮ ሱዝኮ ብወገነን ንኣድላይነት ብኣካል ምቕራብ ገበነኛታት ብዝምልከት ኣብ ዝገለጸኦ ኣብ ዘየለውሉ ምጽራይ ከም ዝከኣል ሓቢረን። እቲ ምጽራይ ካብ ኤርትራ ወጻኢ እውን ክካየድ ዝኽእል’ኳ እንተኾነ ኤርትራውያን እኹል መርተዖ ክሕዙ ይግባእ ኢለን።
መንእሰይ ኣዳም ክንፉ ብወገኑ ብዛዕባ ብ2002 ምስዋር ኣቡኡን ብዙሓት ነበርቲ ሰንዓፈን ብዝርዝር ሓቢሩ፡ ቤተሰብ እቶም ግዳያት ብሰንኪ ተግባራት ስርዓት ኤርትራ ከም ዝተሳቐዩ ከኣ ኣብሪሁ። ወ/ሮ ሪታ ማዞቺ’ውን ናይ ሲቪላዊ መድረኽ ቅርኒ ኣፍሪቃ ዕላማ ብዝርዝር ጠቒሰን ናይቲ መድረኽ ጽልዋ ኣብተን ዝንቀሳቐሰለን ሃገራት ብዝምልከት ዓሚቝ መግለጺ ሂበን።
ኣብቲ ምይይጥ ተሳተፍቲ ነቲ ትጽቢት ዝግበረሉ ግደ ሲቪላዊ ማሕበራት ግቡእ ግምት ሂቦም፡ ሕብረት ኣፍሪቃ ኣብ ምትግባር እቲ ብመርማሪ ኮሚሽ ሕቡራት ሃገራት ዝተወሰነ እንታይ ክገብር ከም ዝኽል ብቆላሕታ ርእየምዎ።
ቅድሚኡ ሓደ መዓልቲ ብ13 ሰነ 2017 ጨቋኒ መንግስቲ ኤርትራ ብተስፋሚካኤል ገራህቱ ብዝተመርሐ ልኡኽ ነቲ ብኤርትራውያን ደለይቲ ፍትሒ ዝቐርቦ ዘሎ ብደሆ ዝምልከት ባዕላዊ መከላኸሊ ኣቕሪቡ
ኣባላት ማእከላይ ባይቶ ሰዲህኤ ኣቶ ንጉሰ ጸጋይን ኣቶ ሃይለ ገብሩን ብ18 ሰነ 2017 ብዛዕባ’ቲ መሪሕነት ሰዲህኤ ብ4 ሰነ 2017 ብወግዒ ዝዘርገሖ “እመመ ሰዲህኤ ንሓባራዊ ዕዮ ተቓወምቲ ውድባት ኤርትራ” መብርሂ ሂቦም። ኣብዚ ብፓልቶክ ዝተኻየደን ነዊሕ ሰዓታት ዝወሰደን ኣኼባ፡ እዚ እማመ ኣብ ከመይ ዝኣመሰለ ኩነታት ይቐርብ ከም ዘሎ ንምብራህ ህልዊ ኩነታት ኤርትራን ደንበ ተቓውሞን ብዝርዝር ጠቒሶም። ምስዚ ብምትሕሓዝ ከኣ እዚ እማመ ናብዚ ደረጃዚ በጺሑ ንክዝርጋሕ ዝመጸሉ መስርሕ ብዝምልከት እውን ገሊጾም።
ካብዚ ሓሊፉ ደምበ ተቓውሞ ኣብዚ ሕጂ ዘለዎ ናይ ደውታ ደረጃ ምህላዉ ብምርዳእ ብውድባትን ዝተፈላለዩ ግዱሳት ኣካላትን ብዘይካ ሓቢርካ ምስራሕ ካልእ መተካእታ ከምዘየለ ክገልጹ ምጽነሖም እዚ እማመ ንክወጽእ ከም ዘተባበዐ ኣብዚ ኣኼባ ተንጸባሪቑ። ምስዚ ብምትሕሓዝ እዞም መብርሂ ዝሃቡ ኣሕዋት፡ እዚ እማመ ብቐንዱ ንርኢቶ ሰዲህኤ ዘንጸባርቕን ውድባት ዘማዕብልዎ ክፉት ኮይኑ ናይ ቅድመ ኩነት ባህሪ ከም ዘየብሉ ኣነጺሮም። ካልእ ኣብዚ ዝተጠቕሰ እቲ እዚ እማመ ኣተኲርሉ ዘሎ ቀዳማይ ምዕራፍ ምውጋድ ጉጅለ ህግደፍን ናይ ጭቆና መሳርሒኡን ንክዕወት ግደ ሲቪካዊ ማሕበራት ዕዙዝ ምዃኑ ስለ ዝርዳእ በብኩርናዑ ይካየዱ ንዘለዉ ህዝባዊ ምልዕዓላት ከም ዘተባብዕ ኣብሪሆም።
ኣብዚ ኣኼባ ዝተሳተፉ ኣባላት ሰዲህኤ፡ ኣብቲ እማመ ተጠቒሱ ዘሎ ነጥብታት እምብዛ ከምዘይሕደሶም’ኳ ፍሉጥ እንተኾነ ዝተፈላለዩ ክበርህሎም ዝደልይዎም ሓሳባት ኣቕሪቦም። እዚ እማመ’ዚ ካብቲ ናይ ቅድሚ ሕጂ ዝቐርብ ዝነበረ ጸዋዒታት ብምንታይ ይፍለ፡ እዚ እማመዚ ምስ መን ኢና ከነተግብሮ፡ እዚ እማመ ምስቲ ተጀሚሩ ኣብ መስርሕ ዘሎ ንኡስ ጽላላት ብኸመይ እዩ ክመሓደር ዝኽእል፡ …… ወዘተ ዝብሉ ሕቶታት ኣቕሪቦም።
ኣቕረብቲ ኣብዚ ሕቶታት ተመስሪቶም ኣብ ዝሃብዎ መብርሂ፡ ኣብዚ እማመዚ ቀሪቦም ዘለዉ ሓሳባትን መጸዋዕታ ዝቐርበሎም ዘሎ ወገናትን ሓደስቲ ኣይኮኑን። ምስኣቶም ክንሰርሕ ዝጸናሕና እዮም። እቲ ሓድሽ ዝኸውን ምስዚ ንርከበሉ ዘለና ናይ ምህላውን ዘይምህላውን ኩነታት ንፍልልያትና ብምውጋድ ዘይኮነስ ብምምሕዳር ብሓባር ዘስረሓና ካብ ተመኩሮና ዝተመሃርናዮ ሓድሽ ኣተሓሳስባ ኣጥሪና ኣለና ዝብል እምነት ምዃኑ ጠቒሶም። እዚ መጸዋዕታ ከምቲ ኣብቲ እማመ ብንጹር ሰፊሩ ዘሎ ኩሎም ፖለቲካዊ ውድባት፡ ፍልልያቶም ዓቂቦም ኣብቲ ውሱን ዘሰማምዖም ነጥብታት ብሓባር ንክሰርሑ ዝቐነዐ ምዃኑ በቲ ክንሓልፎ ዝጸናሕና ተመኩሮ ኣሰንዮም ኣብሪሆም። ከምቲ ኣብቲ እማመ ተጠቒሱ ዘሎ እዚ ሓሳብ ነቲ ኣብ ባይታ ዘሎ ጽላላት ይኹን ግንባራት ዝትክእ ዘይኮነ፡ ንሳቶም ዝሓወሰን ዝያዳ ዝሰፈሓን ጽላል ኣብ ምፍጣር ዘተኮረ ምዃኑ ከኣ ተዘርዚሩ።
እዚ እማመ ካብ ዝወጽእ ንነጀውም በቶም ዝምልከቶም ኣካላት ዝወሃብ ዘሎ ግብረመልሲ ዘተባብዕ ምዃኑ ኣብዚ ኣኼባ ተንጸባሪቑ። ኣብ መወዳእታ ተሳተፍቲ ኣኼባ ምእማም ምጅማር እምበር መወዳእታ ስለዘይኮነ፡ ሎሚ ትማሊ ስለ ዘይኮነ፡ በቲ ኣብ ዝሓለፈ ግዜ ንዕንቀፎ ዝነበርና ከይሰጋእና፡ ኣብ ፍረ ንክበጽሕ ኩሉ ዝምልከቶ ክጽዕተሉ ከም ዝግባእ ኣትሪሮም ተላብዮም።
ኣቦ መንበር ሰዲህኤ መንግስተኣብ ኣስመሮም ኣብ ሕ/መ/ኣን ካናዳን ዑደት የካይድ ኣሎ

ኣቶ መንግስተኣብ ኣስመሮም ኣቦመንበር ሰልፊ ዲሞክራሲ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ (ሰዲህኤ) ንዝነወሓ ናይ ስራሕ ዑደት ኣብ ሕቡራት መንግስታት ኣሜሪካን ካናዳን ብ15 ሰነ 2017 ኣብ በይኤርያ፡ካሊፎርኒያ ኣትዩ። ንሱ ኣብቲ ከባቢ ኣብ ዝጸንሓሉ ኣብ ዝበጽሖ ቦታታት ክፉት ናይ ህዝቢ ኣኼባታትን ሰሚናራት ጨናፍር ሰዲህኤን ከካይድ እዩ።
በዚ መሰረት ኣቦመንበር ሰደህኤ ቀዳም 17 ሰነ 2017 ኣብ በይኤርያ ምስ ዝርከቡ ኤርትራውያን ክፉት ህዝባዊ ኣኼባ ከካይድ እዩ። ንጽባሒቱ 18 ሰነ ድማ ኣብቲ ቦታ ምስ ዘለዉ ኣባላት ሰልፊ ዲሞክራሲ ህዝቢ ኤርትራ ክመያየጥ እዩ።
ምስዚ ብዝተተሓሓዘ ኣቦመንበር መንግስተኣብ 24 ሰነ 2017 ኣብ ሳንዲያጎ፡ ካሊፎርንያ ናይ ኣባላት ሰዲህኤ ክራኸብ እዩ። ቀጺሉ ድማ ብ25 ሰነ 2017 ካለኣይ ህዝባዊ ኣኼባኡ ምስ ኤርትራውያን ነበርቲ ሳንዲያጎን ከባቢኣን ከካይድ እዩ። ካለኦት ኣብ ዝተፈላለዩ ቦታታት ሕቡራት መንግስታት ኣሜሪካን ካንዳን ዘካይዶም ኣኼባታት ብዝምልከት ዘካይደሉ ግዜ ኣብ መጻኢ ክሕበር እዩ።
ኣቦመንበር ሰደህኤ ኣብዚ ዘካይዶ ኣኼባታት ዘተኩረሉ ዛዕባታት፡ ኣሻቓሊ ፖለቲካዊ፡ ሰብኣዊ መሰልን ማሕበረ-ቁጠባውን ኩነታት ኤርትራ፡ ከምኡ እውን ዘይምኽኑይ ቀጻሊ ምክፍፋልን ደውታን ደንበ ተቓውሞ ኤርትራ ኣብ ወጻኢ፡ ከተኩረሎም ትጽቢት ዝግበረሎም እዮም። ብዘይካዚ ሰዲህኤ ቅድሚ 7 ዓመታት ካብ ዝምስረት ጀሚሩ ክሓልፎ ዝጸንሐ ውሽጣውን ግዳማውን ብደሆታት ቆላሕታ ዝህቦ ጉዳይ ክኸውን እዩ። ማእከላይ ባይቶ ሰዲህኤ ኣብዚ ቀረባ ግዜ ዘውጸኦ እማመ ንሰፊሕ ዘተ ምስ ተቓወምቲ ፖለቲካዊ ውድባት ኤርትራ ንሰፈሕ ናይ ሓባር ስራሕ መድረኽ ብዕምቆት ክበርህ እዩ።
ኣቦመንበር ሰዲህኤ ኣብ ዑደቱ ብሓላፊ ቤት ጽሕፈት ውደባዊ ጉዳያት ኣቶ ተስፋይ ወልደሚካኤል (ደጊጋን) ካለኦት ኣብ ሕቡራት መንግስታት ኣሜሪካን ካናዳን ዘለዉ ኣባላት መሪሕነትን ክስነ እዩ።
EPDP Chairman Menghesteab Asmerom On Mission to United States and Canada

Mr. Menghesteab Asmerom, Chairman of the Eritrean People's Democratic Party (EPDP), on 15 June 2017 arrived in the Bay Area, California, for an extended mission in North America (the United States and Canada) during which he will hold open public meetings as well as seminars for EPDP branches in places of visit.
On Saturday, 17 June, the EPDP Chairman will hold an open public meeting for Eritreans residing in the Bay Area. On Sunday, 18 June, he will conduct a meeting for EPDP members in the same area.
On 24 June, Mr. Menghesteab Asmerom will hold a meeting for EPDP members in San Diego, California, followed by his second public meeting in USA on 25 June for Eritrean compatriots residing in San Diego and the surrounding region. Other meetings in different parts of USA and Canada will be announced in due course of time.
The EPDP Chairman's talking points at the meetings are expected to include the ever distressing political, human rights and socio-economic situation in Eritrea; the unjustified continued fragmentation and deafening stagnation of the Eritrean opposition camp in the diaspora, and, of course, the internal and external challenging the EPDP has been facing since its formation seven years ago. Also to be expounded in great detail will be the recently issued EPDP Central Council proposal for wider dialogue within the Eritrean opposition camp with the primary aim of finding a common platform for an effective joint work.
During many parts of his tour, the EPDP Chairman will be accompanied by the Head for EPDP Organizational Affairs, Mr. Tesfai Woldemichael (Degiga) and other leadership members residing in the United States and Canada.
ኣብዚ ሳልስቲ ፕረዚደንት ኢሳያስ ኣፍወርቂ ‘ንመሪሕነት መድረኽ ዝእድብ’ ዝበሎ ስጉምቲ ክውሰድ መምርሒ ከም ዘመሓላለፈ ሬድዮ መድረኽ ምንጭታታ ብምጥቃስ ሓቢራ። እታ ሬድዮ እቲ ‘ዝእድብ ስጉምቲ’ እንታይ ሙዃኑ ዝሕብር ዝርዝር ከምዘየብሉ ጠቒሳ፡ ፕረሰደንት ኢሳያስ መምርሒ ክህብ እንከሎ ኣስማት ኣባላት መሪሕነት መድረኽ ከም ዝረቖሐ ገሊጻ።
እቲ መምርሒ “ነዞም ሰባት ኣፎም ዘትሕዝ ስጉምቲ” ዝብል ሕመረት ከም ዘለዎ ዝሓበረ ዜና ሬድዮ መድረኽ፡ እቲ መምርሒ ኣብ ቅድሚ ኣባላት ሃገራዊ ድሕነት፡ ኣዘዝቲ ሰራዊትን ኣባላት ሓለዋ ቤት ጽሕፈት ፕረሲደንትን ብኽፉት ኣገባብ ከም ዝተዋህበ’ውን ጠቒሱ። ምስዚ ብዝተተሓሓዘ ኣንበሳደር ኤርትራ ኣብ ኬንያ ብወገኑ ኣብ ልዕሊ ሓለፍቲ መድረኽ ግቡእ ስጉምቲ ክንወስድ ኢና ክብል ከም ዝፈከረ እቲ ሓበሬታ ብተወሳኺ ኣቃሊዑ።
እዚ ከምዚሉ እንከሎ ዋንነቱ ናይ ነፍስሄር ሜጀር ጀነራል ገ/እዚኣብሄር ዓንደማርያም (ውጩ) ዝኾነ ኣባይቲ ኣብ ክተማ ኣስመራ ብ2 ሰነ 2017 ብትእዛዝ ጀነራል ፍሊጶስ ወልደየውሃንስ ከም ዝተዓሸገ እዛ ሬድዮ ኣብ ናይ 13 ሰነ 2017 ፈነወ ኣቃሊሓ። እቲ ዝተዓሸገ ክልተ ኣባይቲ፡ እቲ ሓደ ኣብ ቪላጆ ከባቢ ፋብሪካ ዓለባን ኣብ ሓዝሓዝን ከም ዝርከብ ከኣ እቲ ዜና ሓቢሩ። እዚ “ብምምሕዳራ ዞባ ማኣከል ተዓስጉ” ዝብል ማሕተም ዝዓረፎ ኣባይቲ ብስም መብራህቱ ናይዝዚ ዝተመዝገበ እዩ ነይሩ።
እቲ ዜና ኣብዚ እዋንዚ ጀነራል ፍሊጶስ ኣብ ጽልእን ምፍዳይ ሕነን ተጸሚዱ ከም ዝርከብ ጠቒሱ፡ ካብዚ መንፈስዚ ነቒሉ ብቐጻሊ ሰባት ምእሳርን ውልቃዊ ረብሓ ንምርካብ እሱራት ኣብ ምፍታሕን ተዋፊሩ ከም ዘሎ ገሊጹ።
ኣብ ከምዚ ሕጂ ኣብ ኤርትራ ዝረአ ዘሎ ጥቕምን ምጥፍፋእን ዝዓብለሎ ምምሕዳር ካብ ተሓታትነት ንምህዳም ብዝተፈላለየ መደናገሪ ኣስማት ንብረት ምሕባእን ውልቃዊ ቅርሕንቲ ዝዓብለሎ ስጉምቲ ምውሳድን ዝተለምደ እዩ።

ጉዳይ ሰብኣዊ መሰል ኤርትራ ዝከታተል ኣካል ሕቡራት ሃገራት ብ14 ሰነ 2017 4ይ ዓመታዊ ጸብጻብ ወ/ሮ ኪታሩት ምስ ተኸታተለ ኣዝዩ ሰንቢዱ። መብዛሕተኦም ኣብ መበል 35 ኣኼባ ሰብኣዊ መሰል ሕቡራት ሃገራት ጀነቫ ዝተሳተፉ ልኡኻት ሃገራትን ብሰብኣዊ መሰል ዝሕለቑ ሲቪላዊ ማሕበራትን ኣብ ዝሃብዎ መግለጽታት: ኣብ ኤርትራ ዘሎ ኩነታት ሰብኣዊ መሰል ብዘይምቕያሩ ኣዝዮም ሓዚኖም። ካብዚ ሓሊፎም “ኣብ መጻኢኸ እንታይ እዩ ክግበር?” ዝብል ሕቶ ኣቕሪቦም። ናይተን ማውሪታንያዊት ጠበቓ ኪታሩት በሊሕን ቀጥታውን መልሲ ከኣ እቲ ፍታሕ ኣብ ልዕሊ ህዝቦም ኮነ ኢሎም ገበን ምስ ዝፍጽሙ ሓለፍቲ “ ኣብ ዕባራ ዋጋ ዕዳጋ ምውራድ ዘይኮነስ ልዕልና ሰብኣዊ መሰል ምርግጋጽ ጥራይ እዩ” ዝብል ነይሩ።
ወ/ሮ ኪታሩት፡ ኣብ ኤርትራ ቀጻሊ ማእሰርቲ፡ ምስዋር፡ ምስቓይ፡ ሞትን እቲ ኣብ ናይ ዝሓለፈ ዓመት ጸብጻብ መርማሪ ኮሚሽን ሰብኣዊ መሰል ኤርትራ ዝተዘርዘረ ግህሰታትን ኩሉ ቀጻሊ ከምዘሎ ነቲ ባይቶ ገሊጸናሉ። ሓለፍቲ ኤርትራ ዋላ ውሱን ነጥቢ ካብቲ ዝቐረበሎም ለበዋታትን ከመሓይሹ ዝኣተዉዎ መብጸዓን ንምትግባር ዘርኣይዎ ዝኾነይኹን ተገዳስነት ከም ዘየለ ጠቒሰን።
እቲ ኣብ ኤርትራ ዘሎ ሰብኣዊ መሰል ንክመሓየሽ ዝሓትት ሓሳብ ንነዊሕ ግዜ ክቐርብ እንከሎ መልሲ ዘይምርካቡ፡ ብጉዳይ ሰብኣዊ መሰል ንዝግደሱ ክኢላታት ከም ንቡር ተግባር ዝውሰድ ኣይኮነን። እተን ወይዘሮ ሓድሽ ኮነ ናይ ቀደም መፍትሒ ኢለን ዘቕረበኦ ሓሳበን ከምዘይትግበር’ኳ ዝፈልጣ እንተኾና ናብቲ ኣብ ኤርትራ ዝገዝእ ዘሎ ጉጅለ ሕጂ እውን መፍትሒ ሓሳብ ካብ ምቕራብ ዓዲ ኣይወዓላን።
እቲ ወ/ሮ ኪታሩት ናብ ምዕራባውያን ደሞክራስያውያን ዘቕረበኦ ሓሳብ ክብደት ዝወሃቦ ካብ ኤርትራ ወጻኢ ንዘለዉ ኤርትራውያን ሲቪላዊ ማሕበራት ዓቕሞም ዘዕቢ ደገፍ ምሃብ እዋናውን ግድነታውን ምዃኑ ዝጽውዕ ብምዃኑ እዩ።

UN Side-Event in Geneva Searches for Alternative Avenues for Justice in Eritrea

A few hours before the UN Human Rights Council started its agenda on Eritrea on 14 June, the Eritrean Law Society and other sister human rights organizations held a side-event on Eritrea to discuss alternative avenues other than the ICC and regional mechanisms in the attempt of bringing to accountability those persons who allegedly committed crimes against humanity in Eritrea in the period 1991 to 2016.
Panelists at the well attended Eritrea side-event, that was moderated by Dr. Daniel R. Mekonnen of the Eritrean Law Society, included Mr. Suzko Lungu, a law expert from the South African Litigation Center; Mr. Adam Kunfu, Eritrean family member of a victim, and Ms Rita Mazzochi, from the Nairobi-based Horn of Africa Civil Society Forum.
Dr. Daniel Mekonnen stated in his opening remarks that last year's conclusions and recommendations of the UN Commission of Inquiry on Eritrea will take time to be implemented through international and regional mechanisms. Meanwhile, it is incumbent upon Eritrean and fraternal civil society activists to search for other mechanisms for serving justice.
He stated that alternative avenues include trying to bring to accountability those persons suspected of having committed "crimes against humanity" at regional or national courts of law outside Eritrea. Mr. Suzko Lungu spoke on the relevance of physical presence of suspected criminals for prosecution although investigations can be initiated in the absence of those suspects. Eritrean civil society need to compile sufficient evidence on such cases although the country where the case is initiated outside Eritrea can also make its own assessments.
Young Adam Kunfu narrated the story of the disappearance of his father and a dozen other Sanafe residents in 2002 and how much families of victims suffer by the actions of the Eritrean regime. Ms Rita Mazzochi explained in greater details the aims and activities of the Horn of Africa Civil Society Forum and its significance in handling human rights issues in the countries it covers.
In the discussion that followed, discussants considered the expected role of civil society and what the African Union can do in implementing the UN COI decisions.
Earlier day, 13 June, the Eritrean regime also organized a self-propagation event at which Eritrean justice seekers challenged the falsehoods stated by the same regime envoy, Wedi Gerhatu.

Eritrea Frustrates UN Human Rights Council; Keetharuth Presents Bleak Situation Report

After listening to the 4th annual report of Ms Sheila Keetharuth, the UN Human Rights Rapporteur for Eritrea on Wednesday, 14 June, majority of country delegations and civil society advocacies to the 35th Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva expressed in their statements deep frustration over the unchanged human rights situation in Eritrea, many a speaker asked what is to be done about it. The quick and sharp response of the Mauritian lawyer, Keetharuth, was: respecting "the supremacy of human rights" and not treating human rights as "bargaining chips" in a way of appeasing with perpetrators of heinous crimes against their own people.
Ms Keetharuth told the Council that arbitrary arrests, disappearances, torture, death and the long list of abuses stated in the UN Commission of Inquiry's report on Eritrea a year ago are still continuing and that the Eritrean authorities did not show the slightest interest or intention to change the situation by implementing at least some of the UN recommendations to it or the pledges it made at the Universal Periodic Reviews to the UN body.
For UN expert, it is "no business as usual" on human rights in Eritrea where all calls for improvement of the situation have been ignored for too long. Yet, she did not stop making additional recommendations to the Eritrean regime while knowing well that her recommendations, old and new, will remain unimplemented.
Ms Keetharuth's call to western democracies to kindly respect "the supremacy of human rights" in Eritrea was further qualified by her recommendation that it is time to forcefully build the capacity of Eritrean civil society movements in the diaspora.
Over 80% of the 30 speakers who made interventions at the meeting on Eritrea spoke against the excesses of the repressive regime in Asmara and appeared to be willing to extend the mandate the UN rapporteur for Eritrea. The 35th Session of the UN HR Council, which opened on 6 June, is due to end by 23rd June.

UNDP Officials in Asmara Blamed for Becoming 'Cheerleaders' for Repressive Eritrea Regime

In a strongly-worded message to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, two human rights advocacy organizations charged Ms Christine Umutoni, the UN Humanitarian Coordinator and UNDP-Eritrea country representative, of becoming "cheerleader" and top promoter of the repressive Eritrean regime by violating standard rules of conduct that govern international civil servants. Blamed as her collaborator in blindly working on behalf of the Eritrean regime is Mr. Mansoor A. Mirza, a UNDP policy specialist assigned to Asmara, Eritrea.
In their message dated 7 June 2017, the London-based Human Rights Concern-Eritrea and Christian Solidarity Worldwide, made an urgent request to the UN Secretary General to take appropriate measures against the errant two UNDP officials, who have literally become unrepresentative of the UN mission by devotedly speaking and acting on behalf of the dictatorship in Eritrea. It was not for nothing that Ms Umutoni was mockingly listed as one of the trio-foreign ministers of Eritrea together with presidential advisor Yemane Ghebreab and Mr. Osman Saleh.
The UNDP representative was undermining the conclusions of the UN Inquiry Commission and negating the glaring facts regularly presented by the UN Human Rights Rapporteur on Eritrea. She also reportedly took it as her priority job to meet donors in private and open forums to promote the Asmara regime and attended hearings and conferences to tell that Eritrea has a regime which is a credible partner in development efforts.
Similarly, her UNDP colleague, Mr. Mansoor Mirza, reportedly attended last year's UN Human Rights Council meetings and was spotted to be lobbying on behalf of the Eritrean regime and against the UN COI and the UN Human Rights Rapporteur.
Signed by Dr. Khataza Gondwe of the Christian Solidarity Worldwide and Ms Eliabeth Chyrum of the Human Rights Concern-Eritrea, the message to Mr. Antonio Guterres underlined that the actions of the two UN officials have already created the impression that "the UN speaks with two mutually negating voices: one which recognises that atrocity crimes are underway and seeks to address this urgently, and another which appears to overlook atrocity crimes and other grave violations, disregards the inalienability of human rights and, despite the human rights upfront initiative, accepts claims of economic advancement blindly in spite of the absence of independent verification mechanisms".
