Mr. Hamid Drar, Chairman of the Eritrean People’s Democratic Party (EPDP) urged the Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir to kindly use his

good offices in finding out the condition and whereabouts of Mr. Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, Central Council member of the EPDP, who is missing since the 14th of February 2012 after leaving his house in the morning hours on his way to city centre in Kassala.

The message, also copied to the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Mr. Ali Ahmed al-Karti, has expressed fear that the missing EPDP leadership member can as well be victim of the ongoing kidnapping operations against innocent Eritreans in the Sudan.

The EPDP Chairman wished to reiterate the Eritrean people’s deep appreciation for all what the people and the governments of the Sudan, including the incumbent Salvation Government, have done in the past in support of the prolonged Eritrean liberation movement and hope that His Excellency’s personal intervention will now help save the life of the missing Eritrean veteran freedom struggler, Mr. Mohammed Ali Ibrahim, whose family members could not find any clue about him after visits to police stations and hospitals in Kassala.

The EPDP Chairman also send a message to the Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi requesting his kind cooperation with the Sudan to help stop the criminal action of kidnapping of innocent persons by forces of darkness that include paid assassins and security agents of the Eritrean regime.

The disappearance of the Eritrean opposition leadership member has been notified to concerned international agencies including the International Committee of the Red Cross, Amnesty International and, of course, UNHCR whose field staff in Kassala are following up the matter in close contact with local Sudanese authorities.

Family members of Mr. Mohammed Ali Ibrahim have contacted the Kassala city administration and asked them to take responsibility in saving the life of its victimized resident.
